Week 7 Writing Samples

Bullying - written by Duncan

From a poke to a whack
From a pat to a punch
It won't ever end
It won't ever bleed
But it will scar you for life
And leave you to beg.

Many forms, many ways
To force something out
Of an innocent soul
Who knows nothing but right
Hot coals in the mouth
Long cuts on the chest
But still they won't budge.

Loyal...
Friendly...
These are the words
That describe the tortured souls
That did not say a word.

Ocean's Boats - written by Ben

We all look up as a rubble goes over us.
We run...
Getting to cover.
Waiting...
But then,
Seeing paper falling, I pick it up.

I read it:
"Leave now, we are bombing the city...
You have one week..."

One week later

I hear planes, guns, screaming.
As I run, I think...
My parents gone,
My siblings gone,
Just me.

Then
Boom!

I see hope
My way out
Ocean's boats.

Racism - written by Tab

Darkness fills the morning,
Leaving cold spots down my back.
As you wake up in your bed,
Shivering in fright,
Not wanting another day to pass...

War - written by Orla

Caught in a terrible fight,
Always told who is right,
A battle fought for someone else,
Given instructions but no choice,
No one wants to hear your voice,
And in time you don't either.

Forced to be proud of your country,
Who you are ceases to matter,
Whether you live or die,
Those in charge do not care,
No love or hope found anywhere,
You have the opinion of the whole.

Battling day and night,
It no longer matters who is right,
Your life is all you care for,
You may well lose that too,
One mistake, one argument started all,
And that one mistake was not yours.

Calendar Art

Order forms were sent home this week.  If your child did not bring one home, there are more in class or through the school office.

A big thank you to Florence for taking these photos.  My apologises that some are upside down and/or in portrait rather than landscape... I can't quite work out how to rotate them on the blog.

Please get behind this fantastic school fundraiser!

Thanks, Mr and Mrs P.
