Poetry Samples from Week 3

Inspired by Cec. Fisher's poem entitled 'Memories and the Pain'

 Untitled

They took our food, weapons and lives
They took our land, but gave us God
They grabbed our children and stole our wives
All the memories and the pain.

All the sadness, without any gain
They brought two types of people the blacks and the whites
Sometimes I wonder if we're all still sane
Our world is destroyed with double the fights.

Memories and Fear

I heard it coming like tiles cracking
Cracks appeared on the driveway
Terror and fear all in the air
People ran to the nearest safe spot
Things rose from the ground
Thinking of memories and fear.

A watery material under my feet as I struggled to walk, stumble, even crawl
To my loved ones, to feel safe in their arms
Rumbles, no light, screams were getting worse
As furniture, ornaments, decorations fell off,
Fell over and broke
Everything gone
Memories and the fear.

Blood and Glory

The horse's legs stride through the thick bush
Into the blood shed battlefield
Where the warriors blood trickles through the rocks
With all the blood and glory.

The archers draw their bows back
And aim up in the air
They release the flax weaved string and let their arrows fly
With all the blood and glory.

Memories and the Pain

You took my home, you took my life
You pilfered everything for your personal gain
You left me with nothing, but
The memories and the pain.

Time to find a new beginning
Start a new life because nothing remains
I should not stand and let this happen
Leave me with the memories and the pain.

Take the Pain

You descend upon us
Like a white wave
Taking our home and families
Imprisioned us just because of what we are
And no apology.

One day you shall take the pain.
